Dr. Kim received his Ph.D. from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA. He has an extensive professional background that includes conducting research and development in both Korea and the United States. For instance, before pursuing his Ph.D., he worked as a development engineer at Hyundai Motor Company in Korea. He was a postdoctoral research associate at the Center for BioModular Multi-Scale Systems at Louisiana State University and a postdoctoral research scientist at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Columbia University, New York, NY. Moreover, he extended his research and teaching experiences as a faculty member of engineering at Texas A&M International University, Laredo, TX. During this time, he participated in research and education projects funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), National Institutes of Health (NIH), and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB). His research interests focus upon advanced multi-scale manufacturing, experimental microfluidics and optical measurements, and transport phenomena as related to micro/nano-systems for bio-medical/analytical applications.
