Process Improvement for the H.E.B. Retail Support Center
With more than 340 stores, H.E.B. is one of the largest independently owned food retailers in the U.S. and Mexico. The operations currently in place generate billions of dollars of revenue each year. The Ingram School of Engineering have partnered with H.E.B. in a process improvement project for the San Marcos Retail Support Center. Students from the Industrial Engineering program are using the Lanner Group’s WITNESS simulation software to identify the factors that cause bottlenecks at the loading docks during their shipping operations. Through the use of simulation and design of experiment methodologies, the senior design team team will provide recommendations to improve the scheduling of work order releases and human labor.
