SME at Texas State is a student organization that is trying to make college experiences of Engineering students much better.
We are trying to be a social and professional organization, as well as campus oriented.
Therefore, you will be able to make friends and build initial steps in your carrier.

  SME has many events throughout each semester. 

  First, we have meeting every other week where we always have presentations, discussions, guest speakers, related information, and free food.
  During semester we organize plant tours, guest speakers, resume building sessions, and attend professional conferences.
  As part of social life, we organize tailgating camp, go camping, do fundraisings, and participate in bobcat build and building bobcats. We always open to new ideas and encourage members to bring fresh ideas during meetings.

  It is very easy to become a member of the student chapter.
  You should contact one of our officers or just come to one of our meetings or events and give us your contact information. It is free of charge, but we expect you to participate in our activities as much as you can.
  Our members are encouraged to join professional SME. Student membership is $20 per year (professional is $125). When you become a member of SME, you will be receiving Manufacturing Engineering Magazine; will get access to technical papers, and to webinars. You also will be able to apply for scholarships and submit your resume directly to companies through SME web site. The full list of benefits can be found on SME web site.

  There are many ways to find out about our activities.
  First, we post flyer at engineering building about our meeting where we talk about our future events.
  We also use TRACS and send e-mails to all engineering/technology majors. If you do not receive these e-mails you can ask us to add you to our mailing list.
  We also have a Facebook group where we post all our events, photos, and have wall discussions about school and life.
