Best Robotics is a robotics competition held to engage and excite students in engineering, science, and math so that they may want to pursue careers in these particular fields. The IEEE student branch mentored nine different schools and helped students visualize how the math and science they study applies in real life through their constructed robots. The IEEE gained experience with problem solving, power tools, and electrical wiring when constructing the course for the competition with the raw materials and blueprints from the ground up. This was Texas State’s first time hosting the competition and it certainly won’t be the last. This is an excellent opportunity for any student member to gain valuable skills that can be used when working on a team or large scale project.
