  • SME at Texas State is a student organization that is trying to make college experiences of Engineering students much better.
We are trying to be a social and professional organization, as well as campus oriented.
Therefore, you will be able to make friends and build initial steps in your carrier.

  • SME has many events throughout each semester.

We have meetings every other week that include presentations, discussions, guest speakers, related information, and free food.

We organize plant tours, guest speakers, resume building sessions, and attend professional conferences.

Socially, we organize tailgating events, go camping, fundraising, and participate in Bobcat Build and Building Bobcats.

We are always open to new ideas and encourage members to present fresh ideas during meetings.

  • Becoming a member is very easy.  Just contact one of our officers, or come by one of our meetings or events so we can get your contact information. Membership is free of charge, but we do expect you to participate in our activities as much as possible.

We also encourage our members to join the national SME Professional Organization. Student membership is $20/year. When you become a member, you will receive Manufacturing Engineering Magazine, will get access to technical papers, and webinars. You will also be eligible to apply for scholarships and submit your resume to hiring companies directly through the SME website. The full list of benefits can be found here.
